Printing Issues

We offer 5 different label sizes.

They are:

  • 4" x 6" - Our DEFAULT label size that everyone starts with. This label size will fit on nearly anything and will work with most large label printers such as Zebra and Dymo 4XL. 4x6 DEFAULT_Letter is the same but shows first class postage.
  • 4" x 4" - Same width as the default, but 2 inches shorter. Works with many label printers.
  • 6" x 4" - For use ONLY with our "PreSet USPS CARD" option and USPS FIRST CLASS postage only. This is designed for post card printing on most post cards. Will default to 4x6 label otherwise.
  • 7" x 3" - For use ONLY with our "PreSet USPS LETTER" option and USPS FIRST CLASS postage only. This is designed for envelope printing. See this FAQ for details on printing directly to a #10 envelope.
  • 8.5" x 11" - This options allows you to print your label on standard 8.5x11 paper. The postage label will be full size, but not necessarily the size of the paper. This allows you to cut the label out, or fold the paper and use it for see-thru envelopes.

These options are all available in the "Admin" tab of Orange Mailer. Once you select your label size, all USPS labels will print that size. UPS, FedEx and DHL will still use the default 4x6 inch size.

Which size should you select?
We recommend sticking with the default unless the majority of your printing is on an envelope, etc. You can always adjust your local printer settings on the one-off label sizes you may need.

Attached to this FAQ are samples of our 5 different label sizes. You can use these to test with your printer. But remember - don't mail them! The postage is voided.

Postage created thru Orange Mailer may be printed on any printer you have available. However, we recommend using a Zebra or other label printer for ease of use and reliability.

Labels default is preset at 4" x 6". You may need to change the label size depending on your needs.

Use this as a guideline and any printer should work.

If you need to print directly onto envelopes (using first class postage), a standard laser or ink jet printer should work fine. Simply select the 7x3 label size, insert an envelope into the printer as indicated in the printers manual (usually centered in the paper tray), and the postage will print directly onto the envelope. The "Paper Size" should be set at "Env10" and the "Scale" at "Custom" "100"

There is no need to fear mis-printing as all postage purchase may be re-printed at any time from the history page.  (don't try to re-use postage though, as that could be a Federal Offense.)

If you try to print a label and end up with a full page label then change settings to "2 per page" or change the label size from 8.5x11

After getting your label:

Hover over the label

and select the printer icon

The key is to locate the settings for “Page Sizing” and/or “Page Handling” or "ZOOM"

The #10 envelope would never print correctly, no matter how I changed the customary settings.
The solution was expanding the print region in the advanced settings on the finishing tab.

The postage you generated is a standard PDF file, so each printer can be adjusted to get the best and most readable print out available.

After getting your label:

Hover over the label

and select the printer icon

Under  “Pages per sheet” select “2”

If your screen displays “Multiple” select that and then select “2”

You may also need to select the "Size" as "Printable Area". In some cases this can also be 160%.
